    I have dell XPS m140 and am having boot problems. I keep getting "missing NTLDR, press any key to continue" and it reboots to the same problem.

    Have ran the utility fix through bios and everything seems ok. So i try to reinstall XP with the provided cd and i get BSOD with the following errors

    "0x0000007e (0x0000007e, 0x0000005, 0xf85480bf, 0xf8994208, 0xf8993f08)"

    I have searched, downloaded and tried a couple of loadable boots NTLDR cds and none seem to work.

    If anyone has a fix to my problems, can you please provide them with instructions?

    Thanks =)

    NTLDR is a system file and reinstalling windows fixes it most of times.

    I used sys c: from a floppy some time ago to fix this problem .This command copies the system files.

    basically, when i start up my computer, i cant get into windows xp. I get that NTLDR missing problem and tells me to press any key to continue. Doing so just restarts the computer and the same thing happens over and over.

    When i try to do a reinstall of windows xp, the xp cd starts to load its usually routine of checking the system and then it BSOD with 0x0000007e (0x0000007e, 0x0000005, 0xf85480bf, 0xf8994208, 0xf8993f08).

    So, I cant get into windows xp and I cant do a reinstall or a fresh xp install.

    (still stuck and beating my head.)

    BTW, thanks for all the quick replies so far.

    This might help
    http://www.tinyempire.com/notes/ntldrismissing.htm

    I'm not sure if that indicates a hardware problem though.
