I re-partition my HDD and I know that Dell Media Direct will no longer works. However, I found out that when I accidentally pressed the Dell Media Direct Button (hardware), it starts and give me error and the OS keep on going in loop. It'll start in Media Direct, then exit and then Media Direct.

Finally, it starts and stop at the media selection (Video, pictures, etc.) and I quickly selected "Exit".

Vista OS starts normally, but I get report from Google that the HDD is corrupted. Many programs failed to start, too. So I run "chkdsk /f" to restart the system and run Checkdisk and guess what: Windows NO LONGER start. It gives me a "Boot Manager" error.

So is Dell Media Direct cannot be touched such that I can't REP-PARTITION my HDD at all?

Factory settings is just ONE C:\ drive using all space.

    Please help!

Pressing the Media direct button when you don't have it installed corrupts the hardrive, thats why I won't take the risk.

    Reinstall Vista, Backup everything.

Then repartition using the media direct disk and then reformat and install Vista.

That's not true. If MD is not installed or installed incorrectly, the button will result is a BOSD. To fix, you do not need to reinstall everything, just power off and press the button again, it will boot into Windows.

MD is mediocre, especially with Media Center being included in Vista Premium.

So is there a way to remove Media Direct WITHOUT re-installing the WHOLE OS? I mean, it's kinda dumb that one must reinstall the whole OS just to re-size the partition or remove Media Direct.

I just don't want to use Media Direct and re-partition my HDD without reinstalling the OS. I have Acronis Disk Director.
