So I have been having an issue with my laptops LAN port. It will not get link no matter what I try. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the driver, different cables I even reformatted today. The thing is the port worked yesterday without any issues. I don't think that it is a hardware problem. Has any one had an issue like this before or have any ideas to help me out? Thanks in advance.

Do the network LEDs light up? Perhaps you have a malware infection?

Nope I get no link lights at all, I don't think its malware simply because I just reformatted and it is still not working. Unless it is in the drivers or something.

Have you tried a USB to Ethernet adapter to confirm that works? They are like 20-30 bucks. Does the NIC show up in device manager? It maybe genuinely defective.

It does show up in the drive manager an I don't have a USB nic so I can't try that now. I don't think it is defective though because it worked the other day.

It is possible it died. Seen it plenty of times, well I was just using it yesterday.

Is there any way to find out if it is in fact dead? Or is there some way to revive it because my laptop is out of warranty

Well it turns out that it is not dead. I think there maybe an issue with the driver that windows auto installs. I got the driver from the manufacturer's page and that driver seems to have worked. Thanks for the help anyway, Tsunade

Good to hear. Again I haven't seen too many defective LAN ports, but it happens. Drivers drivers drivers!
