I bought a brand new m1530 but it had HORRIBLE backlight bleed, so I sent it back. I just ordered a refurbished m1530 in hopes it will treat me better. Here is the order list sent from Dell:

    LoL...nevermind

If this screen is anywhere near like my last one...it is going back. I could not stand the backlight bleed of the last one. It was INSANELY bad.

I think you're 10 times more likely to get a Samsung screen from Outlet, because the Samsung screens are one of the top reasons people are returning the M1530, but Dell technicians never think there is anything wrong with them, so they just wipe off the notebook with a dust cloth and package them back up and put them on Outlet.

Just a quick question myself in relation to the OP -- I will be needing to buy a laptop, and the deals on Dell Outlet look too good to pass up. Now, if either of us get the Samsung screen on our m1530, is it possible to send it back to Dell and they will replace the screen? It seems that would be a lot faster than a completely customized order to be sent to us.

But what I mean is that, for those of us buying a Dell Refurb, if we buy a laptop and it has the grainy screen, are we stuck with that? I mean, I'd assume since it is an Outlet, they're sold as-is, but are they willing to cover just the screen itself? That's what I'm wondering. :)

i'm gonna do the same thing.

I ordered a 1530 from the outlet and I don't know how...but somehow i'm gonna get them to replace it with the LG screen.

Since i saved over 1k with my configuration, I don't mind making 10 calls to diff reps until somebody does it for me.

YES!!! My screen is an LG screen and looks FANTASTIC!!! WAYYYY better than the last m1530 I had. This LPL0301 looks great.

I wonder why they don't send out the nice cushioned XPS case with refurbished computers? The new one I bought had one.

In Vista go to Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager -> Monitors -> Generic PnP Monitor -> Properties -> Details -> Hardware Id. The value you see will be CMO for Chi Mei, LPL for LG, and SEC for Samsung.

Credit to Alien Code for posting that :D
