Last night, I restarted my xps and it took forever to start back up again. After the pretty vista screen, it sits there for at least 5 minutes, then the login screen pops up, it is able to boot through the bios. I'm confused.

It could be the sign that the hard drive is going.

go benchmark your hard drive(HD Tuner)

go download uBuntu, burn to CD, try Live CD.... any problems? if there are, then its not the hard drive, probably a dead mobo or something

does it happen often? or just last night? It maybe due to some windows update, check your updates if something has been installed on it last night... its worth checking your laptop event logs as well.. see if some clue is there..
