    Hi,
I just got my Dell XPS m1530 with the led backlit screen. I can see dark stripes or shadows starting at the bottom of the screen and going up about 1/3 of the way up the screen. They are about an inch apart. They kinda look like dark shadows. Is this normal for the led backlit screens or is there something wrong with my screen? TIA.

That is not normal for any type of screen. I would suggest you to call Dell and ask for it to get repaired.

Definitely time to ask them to send a tech out to replace that screen.

Wow, how come they released this faulty screen to consumers
    Dell QC

I think you’re still within the satisfaction period, so request a completely new M1530 replacement unit.

If you request just a new screen, I’m afraid the tech guy will mess-up with your new lappy (scratch etc)

If you are selling millions of notebooks each quarter, some with bad parts are going to slip by, tht is just the nature of the business.

I received one thats exactly the same as yours, LED 1440 and also with the problem. I talked to them the first day I got it (9/2) and then I received a replacement today... and it has no problems, in fact the build quality is much better on this one. So call tech support and they might make you change some drivers but eventually they will either replace the whole thing or the LED

WOW! They must have had a run of these bad screens. I actually ordered two XPS 1530s (one for me and one for my wife). Both with the LED screens. One was perfect and the other looked EXACTLY like yours! I called Dell on the day I received both computers (9/5/08) and my new replacement is currently in the "boxing" phase.

    Hey everyone,
I got a replacement and it is fine. Dell was very good about the whole thing. Thanks to everyone for their advice. Just wanted to update all about this one and say how great this forum is. Thanks
