Hi.
I juse recived my new m1530 the other day, and overall im very satisfied about it.
But there is coming this small beeping noise from inside the computer. It sounds a little bit like a morse code. Again its a verly low noise, not loud or anyting like that.
But it annoys me alot when working, to hear of that little noise going on.
Although its not always beeping, sometimes there a small break and sometimes it can go on like forever.
I have been trying to search for an answer, but i only found people having problems with loud beeps, which this isnt!
Is there anyone that has any idea of what it might be, and how to fix it?
Thanks in advance!

It may be a system beep which can be disabled via Device Manager, but it is more than likely your hdd reading/writing.

I can understand why the hdd make scrathing noises when reading data, but why would it make beep noises?
Is there anyone else who owns a m1530, who experience beep noises? -
The same noise as this?

I think it has to do with the CPU changing power states. -
The beep "rhytm", if you can call it that, goes about the same as in the video, but it is not that loud.

i have the same problem..but interestingly if i turn the bluetooth on it reduces the noise..

Use rmclock and disable Popup and Popdown modes. This will lower battery life, but at least you don't have to deal with the noise. You can also try disabling the C4 low power state but that may cause the system to hang, requiring a reboot.

I have been hearing this tiny little beep noise... not too loud or anything, but when in a completely silent environment it can be heard.. Particularly more broken beeps when running on battery, and continuous when plugged in... any idea what is this people?? and should I take a look into this or just leave it?
For me its coming from near / below touchpad...
Thanks in advance. -
...the only noise I have near the touchpad is when I hold my 1530 to my ear I have a buzzing/humming sound....
But it doesn't bother me.
Maybe watch it for a day or two, and if it continues and is bothersome, contact Dell...

UPDATE:
I just figured out that this constant beep noise or whining noise if due to the Intel chips... apparently when they go into come "C3 power mode" or whatever.. (I am sorry, but I have absolutely no idea about these power modes n stuff). Anyway, digging into google for abt 2 hours now, I figured out this.. and there are various suggestions / tips... one of them was to try turning on / off various things like wireless, bluetooth, getting off USB hubs or ports, battery in n out etc... I started with the wireless on, nothing happenes... and then turned on Bluetooth >> Sound disappeared.

Apparently its considered to be 'normal' too. WTH!! I mean its not audible at all usually.. gets drowned out in the surrounding noise.. but when its silent like now at home, 6 in the morning, I can hear it slightly... anyways.
From an article from Dell apparently (though I am yet to find something similar, but newer)
"In certain situations, an intermittent, high-frequency buzzing noise may be heard from the system. It appears to change with processor activity and can increase in frequency if USB devices are attached.
This buzzing noise is apparent to some degree on all laptops but is perceived as abnormal because it is different from the other more familiar noises the computer makes.
The noise has been isolated to the processor’s power circuit and is only audible when the processor is in C3 (clock-stopped) power state. In this state, the computer is in a low-power mode designed to reduce chassis heat and extend the battery life. The changes to the components in the processor's power circuit are caused by a phenomenon referred to as the Piezoelectric Effect. When a specific voltage is applied to these components, they begin to resonate producing sounds that fall within the range of human hearing (15 – 20 KHz). The noise is normal and within the acoustic specifications of the computer."

By the way >> Does anyone know if there is any way to prevent the processor from entering into this C3 power mode or whatever? Apparently its not a problem of Dell but its supposed to be resolved by Intel (as much as I understood from all the reading').. I saw the use of RMClock in one place.. but I don't want to get into that right now. I would like to know if there is any other, more easy way? Thanks a lot in advance. Cheers.
