When will this new model be released? And, will it come with the 9800m gtx 1gb?

There haven't been any rumors about it, so no one really knows.

Do you mean the studio 1735? I've never heard anything about an xps m1735.

I doubt there will be a new high end XPS gaming laptop from Dell. Dell has announced that it is moving that market segment to Alienware. The current XPS M1730 may have another year at most.

Ouch... considering that the XPS Premiere Support currently beats AW hands-down for customer support, I consider this very bad news. Is there a URL which highlights the above?

You're kidding... well, when they do that, I hope they change some things in Alienware, because their support sucks, and the premium prices that are payed are a little on the high side.

Yeah there's no way that Dell will give up their XPS line in favour of Alienware's laptops.

Okay, well that makes sense. I'm glad they aren't totally phasing XPS out in favor of Alienware, that would have been a bad move.

Looks like Dell is "hiding" the XPS M1730. I checked out the XPS line and it isn't listed on the front page anymore. You you have to click a link on the left to "show all XPS models"

It does? The M1730 has been in the gaming notebooks section for a while now. But, it would be cool to see a new model.

I still don't think there is going to be a new model. I just think Dell is starting the intial push towards Alienware for their gaming lines.

Although I don't own one myself, I actually like the M1730's design. Not in the pictures on the web, but actually seeing it at a DELL kiosk in the mall.
Anyways, if "XPS Gaming" is phased out, Alienware has to have XPS-like support, and much improved stability and more understandable prices. The only "deals" I've seen at Alienware is for the M9750, and that thing was announced at least a year ago!
When I see "24/7 Premium Support, Next business day on-site service with technical support and CompleteCare", Little to none complaints about issues, and " $499" off regularly, then Alienware has done the right thing.
Right now, I wouldn't even consider one, even if it looks really cool.

Alienware needs to come down in price before they can justify selling a lot of them.
