Hey guys,
Since my new XPS-15 (9530) doesn't have an Ethernet port, I need to get a decent Ethernet to USB Adapter/Cable; I'm guessing a USB 3 would be the latest and greatest.
Any suggestions?
Thank you

Not only would 3.0 be the latest and greatest, but it is the only way to get the full Ethernet bandwidth. USB 2.0 would be a bottleneck. Expect to pay between $15 and $20 (US).

I use an older USB 2 converter and have had no issues. YMMY

You would probably only notice if you are using it on a gigabit network. I bought the Dell 2.0 version and brought it to work to test it and it was quite a bit slower than my regular Ethernet plug. I got less than 300 Mbps with it and got 1 Gbps with the regular plug (file transfer speeds). I'm returning mine and getting a 3.0 adapter from Amazon. Dell needs to update their product page - it said Gigabit in few places.
Edit - I should clarify that I tested it on another laptop that has an Ethernet port. I don't have my XPS 15 yet. -
I think you'll find that 'technically' it is a gigabit ethernet port (300Mbps is certainly faster than a 10/100 adapter would be) it is just limited by the USB2 bus (480Mbps peak). But yes, to get full gigabit performance you would need a USB3 adaptor.
