    Hi

    I just bought a XPS 1330.
    C2D T9300
    NVIDIA 8400M GS
    160gb 7200rpm
    9 cell battery
    Dell 1965 802.11G Mini Card

When I am on batttery running at max CPU speed, the notebook is running fine (if a bit hot). Then when I plug in the AC Adaptor, the notebook hangs and screen blanks out.

By pressing the power button for 5 sec or so, I managed to reboot the system. Unfortunately, it would again hang right after the BIOS has loaded.

After several tries, I unplugged the AC adapter, the system would boot into Windoze Vista normally. And if I plugged in the AC Adapter again (CPU at max speed), the system would again blank out.

After rebooting (using battery power), if I were to run the system at the 'power saving' settings, I have no problem whatsoever with the AC Adapter. However, if I were to increase the CPU speed, the system would again hang and crash. I tried using RightMark CPU to slowly up the clock multiplier.
I realized the system would be unstable towards multiplier of 10-11. Max is 12.

Again, I would like to stress that I could run at whatever CPU speed I wish with the battery power only. So I suspect the motherboard, CPU and RAM are fine.

    1) Anyone else has this problem?
    2) Do you think that my adapter is faulty? Unable to provide the max current?

Anyone has any opinion on this abnormality?

Or am I the only sad owner of the XPS1330 with this problem?

65W or 90W adapter? It could be that the adapter cannot supply enough power...

    Thanks for reply.

    I only have 65W adapter.
Maybe that is the reason why it is crashing.

Also, 65W adapter takes 4+ hours to fully recharge a 9cell battery.
    :(

    Cheers!
