Hello there,
So to keep it as short as possible, I had many issues with my xps 1330 (it ahd the extended battery from start) and eventually ended up having the option to get the 1340 as my replacement of equal or better specs. I agreed and received a xps 1340.
First problem was that it did not come with the extended battery. I called and asked about it and they ended up sending me a replacement extended battery for the standard one.
On monday the 5th of october they received my old laptop (1330) and the transfer should of been done at that time. I was told the transfer will be done when my laptop is received, it hasn't.
Now the major problem. It seems that since i put in the extended battery into the 1340 the slim charger has been getting pretty damn hot, to the point where if you held it in your hand for long enough it would just start burning you.
I called in, chatted and im getting the run around because my warranty wasn't transferred yet. I've spoken to a supervisor who is pretty much useless in this case as she didnt seem to say much more than her worker.
So now i have a hot charger, possibly a fire hazard and a company which refuses to replace it because i supposedly dont have warranty on the replacement laptop.
Now i'm leaving the country on friday for a few days and will be forced to drag the hot charger with me.
So what do i do?
I got a feeling BBB will eventually receive a phone call from me.

Why don't you transfer ownership online? I believe there is a form on Dell's site.
Don't expect a quick turnaround time with BBB. I filed a complaint with BBB on a sony laptop last month and still haven't heard from them. -
the only thing I can comment is on the charger. I have/had the same problem with my xps1340 charger. Where holding it in my hand for 2 second would really burn it. I called tell just to ask if I ever wanted to change my charger do to its heat would it be ok? they said no problem. Im still using the same charger tho, I noticed with time that it gets very hot only when its charging your battery, after it charges it to 100% it stays at normal warm heat level. Im guessing its getting hot because its under pressure to charge the battery fast enough. Dont worry it wont burn anything. I noticed that the black ink had melted of on the time label on the charger (where it says the watts and w/e else it says) But if you insist on changing it, they should do it.
Im from NYC too -
If it's anything like the sxps 1640 charger even a replacement will not help my first one got extremely hot my new is the same. It must just be some type of design flaw.
XPS1330 replaced for XPS1340..dell refuses to replace HOT charger
