My XPS14 is only one month old and has been working beautifully the entire time, till now.
All of the sudden when i turn it on, it just hangs the the XPS screen (the first screen when you turn it on).
If i turn it off and back on, it will boot normally. Also, this is intermittent.

    Anyone have any ideas?

    thanks

Some Dells take awhile to POST. If it's frozen on that screen it could be due to a defective RAM stick or a bad hard drive. Can you run the Dell diagnostics?

Sometimes it hangs on that screen and i have to hit the power button off and on again. Other times it boots no problem. Its usually very fast through that screen.

    What is DELL diagnostics?

Did you have any USB devices connected? I know when I had it connected to my fiancee's parents' printer, it wouldn't get past POST until I disconnected it.

Dell diagnostics is a program which you can use before windows has loaded to check the hardware of your machine. From turning the laptop on just press F12 on the dell start screen until it is recognised and the program loads up. It may be another function key though.
Prob best to do the full test using the program as it should highlight any hardware faults that way. If there is an error it will give you a little blurb you can copy down.

I also used to have this same problem with my Ipod being plugged in when booting. I think the machine would try and boot from that for some reason.

I unplugged my ASUS WiFi headphones and so far it has not hung once. Hopefully it will stay that way.
