So I decided to start using my Dell again and after reimaging the system to an image I have saved after I did a clean install of Win7 ayer receiving the laptop back in May of 2012. I noticed that that 3 buttons didn't work next to the max audio logo. I reinstalled the quickset drivers as week as the audio drivers. Still no go. I decided to take off the cover and check the connection and everything looked good. Turned it back on and tried the buttons, no go. Took off the ribbon again and noticed a brown spot on the connector... I am no longer under warranty since last month. Anyone wise know how this could have happened? I've only opened it up 3 times, to install an ssd, to remove ssd and put it back to how I got it and recently to troubleshoot the buttons.

    Hi jiannichan,

The connectors could have burnt due to lose contact resulting from the cable not being fixed properly or due to a short between the connector contacts. The motherboard has to be replaced to fix the issue.
