So I have had enough with the poor WiFi performance on my machine, I bought it so I could have a thing laptop for normal day to day use and some gaming (Guild Wars 2 and waiting for ESO so come out) wanting to run them at high settings.

The XPS15 did achieve this except for playable performance an external wifi adapter has to be used and the fan is loud enough to wake the whole house up at night.

I am thinking of exchanging it through dell, anyone know what a good replacement would be? (Mainly aimed at gaming) I was thinking Alienware M17x as I don't need it to be so portable now as I got myself a Microsoft Surface for that.

Why not just sell the wifi card and replace with a better quality one?

sangemaru: different wifi cards don't change the picture much, or reliably, the machine casing and antenna routing, and/or other issues are the problem, not the wifi card. I put the 6235 from my xps 15 into my wife's xps studio 1645 and it works like a champ.

hunterofdusk: seems like either the alienware or the inspiron 'r' model would work for your needs, just be sure to get something with a decently powerful dedicated gpu so you have some longevity on the box.
