Hi, so I'm looking at getting the new XPS15, I am aware of the problems, and waiting for a fix, but does anyone know how well it will run the game? I have heard of people playing Skyrim on ultra settings without problems.

I know the wifi could be a problem, so a plugin wifi adapter would be used if I had a wifi problem when buying.

I am after advice on how well it will run graphically? Is it playable on ultra settings on this laptop with over 20 FPS (once its 20 or over I dont really care about the fps that much).

And how much difference would the i7 and i5 versions make. And would getting the i7 with 16GB RAM make much of a performance difference, other than just giving a faster boot speed?

    Thanks for any replies.

    David :)

Regardless of what laptop you get, you should know that GW2 is a CPU hog, i strongly suggests a quad core for it.

Any game that stresses the CPU and GPU will run poorly on the L521x, I didn't find Guildwars 2 to be playable on mine. If you're a gamer I suggest you look at a system designed for gaming, if you're looking middle of the road HP Envy 15, Sony S15 or maybe Lenovo Ideapad Y580 (it's tubby).

Hey, I'm happy to wait and see what happens with the XPS15 before I turn to another system, as I am looking for a thin laptop that will run gw2 well, as thats the only game I play on pc at the moment. I think I will turn to the HP Envy 15 if the XPS doesnt work out, do you know how thin the Envy is? As i am looking for a thinner laptop that will run games well, so the lenovo is out of the question for me, and I have heard bad things about build quality of the sony.

The XPS was the perfect choice, in build quality and the gorrilla glass screen, but its downfall was the internal issues obviously. The Zenbook U500 looks like it could be nice if it doesnt suffer the same as the xps, how does the Envy fair in terms of build quality and screen flex etc?

    Thanks
    David :)

the Envy is thicker than the Dell and, also Review of a pre-release version of the ZenBook did throttle and temps did reach 95 degrees. Let's see when it comes out how it will fare. Though my hopes for that one aren't high
