    Hey all,

New to the forum, but looking for some quick help.

I've been searching for a desktop replacement laptop for a while ago, and yesterday settled for a Inspiron 17R, from the Dell Outlet, (with coupon) for a total of 570.

I was pretty happy with it, until I saw the XPS 15, with FHD, (1080p, I hope!) available! However, the coupon had expired and this new setup was to run me $840 shipped.

I ended up cancelling the Inspiron and going with the XPS, but now I'm questioning my thought pattern. Does this make sense? I don't feel like I'm getting a great deal, considering a new XPS15 would be around the same price (799), just without the 1080p.

I can still cancel my order, and start over, but wanted to hear what everyone thought? Did I make the right decision??

    Matt

The upgraded screen on xps 15 is one of the best ones on the market and easily worth 125/- until Dell pushed up the price to 192/- and then pulled it off.

If all other specs are nearly identical (xps 15 has usb 3.0), even then xps 15 would definitely be a better machine overall.

If budget is not an issue and screen quality is important, go for the xps 15.

It would be better to make a decision once the complete specs for both the systems are known.

    Specs were similar.

    Both had X5, Blu Ray

XPS 15 has 4gb RAM, Inspiron had 6gb
XPS has NVIDIA graphics card, Inspiron had onboard graphics

I ended up cancelling the Inpsiron, and going with the XPS--hope it was right call.
