    Hi all

I'm just awaiting delivery of my new XPS1530 with WSXGA+ (1680x1050) screen.

Looking through the archives Ive seen a lot of posts relating to problems with the Samsumng version of the screen and that the LG screen is superior.

However, a lot of the posts are at least 11 months old, so I was wondering what the state of play is now. Can I expect an LG screen or has the Sumsung screen been upgraded?

Anyone out there who has recently received this laptop in the UK? What screen did you get?

    Thanks
    G.

Most probably you will get a Samsung screen, because Dell uses them mostly than any other, but you always can change manually with an LG one and this won't hurt your warranty if you are doing this with care.

    Hi Mirage

Are you saying that I have to go out an spend another £100+ on a screen and replace it myself.

Or do i contact Dell and aks them to send me the replacement screen free of charge?

    Hi ,
forgot about Dell if you want to be satisfied, with Dell you will end up with another Samsung panel and may be even worse than first one. So, my advise is- find a good LG panel from eBay and make your life easier yourself ;)

I've got an XPS m1530 with the WSXGA screen. Mine is the Samsung. Personally, I don't think it's too bad. It could be better, but by no means is it that bad that I'd consider calling Dell for a replacement. It's just luck of the draw really.

I've got a Samsung WSXGA 1680x1050 LCD. Crystal clear. Many of them shipped in the past half year are perfectly fine; got mine in August '08. Mine looks better than screens on friend's laptops. Brighter, too. You'll be fine. :)
