I'm planning to upgrade my RAM from 3GB RAM to 4 RAM....is it worth it or upgrade to 6GB?

    I guess my existing is 2 + 1....so I'll just remove 1GB and buy 2GB RAM (for 4GB Ram)....How about if I want 6GB RAM?

Also I want to replace my 250GB HDD to 500GB.

What's the effect of heat issue if I upgrade both HDD and RAM?

any advise where can I buy?

Here is my existing RAM : 3GB, DDR2, 667MHz 2 Dimm, and HDD: 250G 7200RPM SATA Hard Drive

    Thanks in advance.

I found this at newegg....will this work for xps1530? I guess I will remove 1GB and replace it with this specs. so that I can have 4GB (total).

No need for 6GB RAM, if you're running a 32-bit OS. Even if you're running a 64-Bit OS, and you have to ask the question, you don't need it. So forget 6GB, 4GB is plenty for your system.

You will experience no heat issues upgrading RAM or HDD or both.

The 2GB RAM you've listed above is fine, but it's designed to run at 800MHz. If you run it in line with your existing 667MHz module, it will be downclocked to 667MHz also. If you're OK with that, no problem, but if you wanted to run your RAM at 800MHz, you'd need to buy 2 x 2GB DDR2-800 sticks.

I'm not from the US, but I see Newegg.com mentioned on a daily basis here, so I would say you're shopping at the right place.

is there big difference in terms of performance between 667MHz & 800MHz?

I'm not sure how many available slots in my XPS1530, I assume that there's only 2slots (2GB & 1GB RAM)? So if I buy the new 2GB RAM I need to remove 1GB or there's available slot for the 3rd RAM?

Will this two HDD fit on XPS1530? or how will I know if this fit on XPS1530 if I will buy this in newegg....I checked Dell website and the selection is only up to 320GB.

how about the performance or quality: Hitachi or Seagate?

    HITACHI Travelstar HD20500 IDK/7K 500GB 7200 RPM 16MB Cache 2.5" SATA 3.0Gb/s Internal Notebook Hard Drive -Retail

No, just two slots in the M1530. You'll have to remove the 1GB stick. To be honest, I wouldn't bother buying two sticks of 2GB 800MHz, you're not going to notice much difference. You're better off putting the extra money towards something else.
Both those drives will fit your M1530. Any 2.5" SATA-II drive (exlcuding the thick 12.7mm drives 750GB & 1TB) will work. Personally, I'd go with Seagate, but I'm the sure the Hitachi would be fine.

    thanks RPG-XPS....

how about the XPS1530 small front cover for HDD, I hope this will fit also with Hitachi or Seagate HDD.

Also, do I need to change my power adapter due to upgrade of my HDD & RAM?

No problem. The front cover has two small screws - unscrew those and transfer to the new hard drive, very easy.

No need to change your power adapter. The new HDD and RAM will operate at the same voltage, they're just different capacities. Your adapter is more than capable.

    Best of luck!
