i have powerDVD8 that can play BlueRay DVD and my NVIDIA driver is 7.15.11.5663 (latest from DELL).
i can play BlueRay DVD, but starting when i connect my XPS to Sony WEGA Projector....it says that my NVIDA drive need to be updated.
Question:
1.) what else i need to do when i connect my XPS to TV using HDMI.....do i need to change any set up from my XPS?
2.) do i need to set my TV to Video....any advice what i need to change on my TV set up to play my BR DVD?
3.) my NVIDA driver is 156.63 (latest from DELL) which is very old compare to laptopvideo2go.....to XPS1530 BlueRay user, what NVIDIA driver are you using?
4.) how should i know if my TV is non HDCP compliant? Sony Wega E42A10 Projector.
thanks!

You could try the new driver for the M1330.

I just talk to DELL support reps and they told me that my TV is not HDCP compliant!
WTF! I can’t use my XPS Blue Ray drive using my 42” Sony Wega (year 2005 model)….when did HDCP compliant for TV start? 2007? -
Yeah, I was going to suggest your TV probably was not HDCP compliant. Welcome to the great world of content protections.
-
is there anyway I can disable the HDCP non-compliant of my TV….i just want to see the movies transmitted from my XPS to TV using HDMI….my TV got HDMI so WTF they are not HDCP compliant, SONY should not put HDMI connector if they are not HDCP compliant.

There is apparently a device that strips the content protection. As for any software, I'm not totally sure. Slysoft probably has a tool to rip the content and make it playable.

I have an older 50" Panasonic TV in my bedroom. It is NOT HDCP compliant. I played several Bluray movies from my M1530 connected to that TV via HDMI. They all played with no problem.
I run Vista Ultimate x64 on my M1530 with GF8600GT. I used the Dell MediaDirect in Windows to play, but haven't tried any other software player. Perhaps MediaDirect does not check for HDCP. It also played fine from the quick direct-boot MediaDirect, but I did not try that with my TV, only the laptop's screen.
I don't not have it running on my laptop, but Slysoft's AnyDVD will bypass HDCP protection. Allows non-HDCP compliant video card and/or monitor to play Bluray. Yes it also allows you to rip to your hard drive.
-
I think you are correct since Media Direct is an XP derivative and XP didn't have the HDCP protections.

i got problem with my MediaDirect....it wont play my BlueRay DVD....and this Dell tech advise me to use powerDVD. so right now i have to buy $99 for that powerDVD just to play my BlueRay DVD because my MediaDirect is not playing my BlueRay.
i'll try anyDVD and check if this will work with non-HDCP compliant.
also whats your NVIDIA driver version?
thanks! -
it works! i follow andye39s setup...
i uninstall powerDVD and install anyDVD with Blue Ray...it work and i can watch now on my 2005 model TV using HDMI connection to XPS!!!
my problem is when i play the blue ray DVD, still it wont show on my TV, it just show my desktop and media direct (blank copy) but in my laptop the blue ray dvd shows video in media direct.
any advise?
thanks! -

I'm
In the first sentence, you say everything's working, and you can now watch (what I assume are?) Blu-Ray movies on your TV - using a HDMI cable connection.
But in the second sentence, you say Blu-Ray DVD's don't show on the TV -
sorry for my english -
What version of MediaDirect do you have? I believe version 3.5 is required to support bluray playback. My M1530 came with 3.5 along with the reinstall disc, and my M1330 had 3.3. Unfortunately there is no easy way to upgrade without reformatting your whole hard drive. I reformat all my computers anyway so it's not a big deal. In fact I've always removed Mediadirect, never used it. but since it now supports BD playback, I put it on.
I'm running Vista Ultimate X64, driver 175.75 (GF8600GT).
BTW, if/when you reinstall MD 3.5, you must already have the Bluray drive installed, otherwise it will not install the bluray-capable version. (I say this because I know some are retrofitting their M1530 with the BD drive) How do I know? I installed 3.5 on my M1330 (no bluray drive obviously). Same exact version I used on my M1530. When I go to the about Mediadirect screen, same version but on my M1330 it does not have those fancy Bluray Disc and Dolby TruHD logos. See my attached about screen from MD.
The Mediadirect program is definitely different with and without the bluray drive. An update patch downloaded for the bluray version was >100MB, while the update patch for the version without bluray was only ~5MB.

when i bought my XPS, my blueray drive is already installed.
anyway my problem now is my media direct is not giving signal to my TV (via HDMI connection to my laptop)....though i can see my desktop in my TV except media direct is Blank.
how's 175.75 with xps1530?
in my xps, media direct is playing my BlueRay DVD...problem is it didnt give signal to my TV.
later i'll check my media direct version, but its different from your attached pics....i never saw that logo's in my Media direct. -
the only problem is my media direct is not showing the picture in my TV. -
i finally solve the problem!
first, it's better to run MEDIA DIRECT with ANYDVD software (since my TV is non HDCP compliant)
Secondly, at the bottom right of your screen right click the volume or speaker icon and select HDMI as default.
Third, this is the missing point that's why i have a problem.....click FN + F8
viola!!! it's now showing my Blue Ray movie in my non-HDCP compliant TV.
XPS1530: i can't play my Blue Ray DVD....using HDMI
