XPS16... how does it work with a 15.6" LCD now?

Now that the LCD on the XPS16 is 15.6"... have they redone the bezel? Does it look a bit, errr... rigged up? Anyone have a pic of how the lappy looks with a smaller LCD now?

 

Dell has always offered 15.6" options for this model, so it's nothing new. The 15.6" screen has a thicker border around the edge (there is no bezel). See the link below for screenshots. The one on the right is a SXPS 13, but you get an idea of what the thicker border looks like...

So does that mean that the dimensions of the XPS16 are the same, no matter what size the screen (15.6 vs 16)?

I am asking as I have a XPS16 with a 16" screen and 9 cell battery on order and I want to order a laptop sleeve for it.

 

Yes, the laptop dimensions for both screen sizes are exactly the same.

the 15.6" model came after around after July 2009. It used to be all 16". I don't like how it's a 15.6"-laptop now. I'm glad I got the 16" while they still had it. But you won't be disappointed at the quality =)

 

I would order a 15" sleeve for this XPS 16. I bought a 16" sleeve for it and never use it because its too big. I have found through friend's sleeve's and bags that XPS 16 fits best in stuff designed for 15/15.6 inch screens.

 

Yeah, that is my thought. I am currently looking at the Slappa Ballistix PTAC Stealth 15.4" Laptop Sleeve as my choice. It's internal dimensions look to be on the mark for the XPS16.
