    Hello, I am new here so apologies if the question has been asked before. Did try looking around but a lot if the info is old and there are hundreds of pages, so.....

    I have a L701x (UK build), has a 128GB SSD as the main drive and I just upgraded to 2 x 8GB DDR3 1333, giving me a total memory of 16GB.
    I did also put in two of my old 2GB boards and the system report 20GB of RAM.

    From what I know the max amount of RAM for this laptop is 16GB, so I would like to know the following;
    Can it run more than 16GB - could I put in another two 8GB boards for a total of 32GB for example?
    Is my system likely to be running all 20GB currently or just reporting 20GB but only actually running 16GB?
    Can it run 1600mhz DDR3?

    I am looking for any replies from people who know, especially those who might actually be running more than 16GB of RAM and running 1600mhz DDR3.
    Processor is i7 Q740 and Bios is version A10.

    Thanks
