    Hello,

I received my beloved Dell XPS M1330 as a gift 2 years ago. It did not have the graphics card. I was wondering whether I could take this into a dell shop and have them outfit it with the standard XPS M1330 graphics card.

    Thanks for your help

    Regards,

    Ravata

Are you talking about whether you could outfit a 8400M GS in a X3100 graphics XPS M1330? I'm afraid no, since the graphics card is soldered to the motherboard. Plus the 8400M GS is a faulty GPU, known for its eventual failure due to it being unable to handle cooling and heating cycles.

Yea, I want to take out the old standard crappy graphics card and put in the 8400M GS.

I was reading online about people modifying their 8400M GS to reduce the overheating.

Maybe Dell could unsolder the old crappy graphics and install the 8400M GS with better cooling technology? I would really love for this to happen. Anyone think this is possible?

The Intel X3100 motherboard is completely different from the one with the 8400m GS. You would need a complete replacement of the motherboard, not just solder the chip in. I'm sure they sell the 8400m GS motherboards on ebay. However, because of the failures, I would suggest you just keep the X3100 and bear with the low graphics performance.
