I just ordered an XPS 1530 with 2 gigs of RAM, just wondering if it'll be two 1g sticks or just one stick? Cause I'm planning to upgrade the memory, but if it's two sticks then I'll only be able to have 3 gigs with the 2 gig memory I'm planning to buy. Also, any DDR2 667 PC5300 RAM should do, right?
    Such as this one?

I should be 1x2GB so you'll still have one slot left for upgrade. cmiiw

it's two sticks of one. The reason is because you can take advantage of the dual channeling.

Its two sticks instead of one just because Dell wants to sort of give you more trouble in upgrading ram. Think about it, if Dell gave you a single 2GB stick when you order 2 gigs, its very likely you will go out and buy a single 2GB stick to throw in to make 4GB. Dell wants to make it more annoying for you buy making it so that you will have to end up buying 2x2GB sticks so you are paying for 2 instead of 1. I guess its just business. :/

They never say they do it to give you dual channel, and even if they do, they are kinda sorta trying to make it more annoying for you if you know your planning to upgrade.

Fudge. That's gay. So should I change my order? Seems like its not worth the trouble of upgrading RAM if you have to upgrade both sticks, which won't cost that much less than the $100 needed to upgrade to 4g. Or is there somewhere I can sell the RAM it comes with >.>

You can sell it on ebay, but don't expect much. Its true it won't cost that much less, but you can get really good deals. Just go with the lowest possible, then buy some off of newegg or someplace else. DDR2 ram for the XPS M1530 is CHEAP. You won't be paying near 100 bucks for it. Just remember that despite RAM being at different prices, just go with the cheaper one.

Crucial sells M1530 RAM for very expensive, but other companies like Kingston, Corsair, and G-Skill sell theirs for less, but just as good if not better. Its all the same.

Yeah its the exact same thing but some manufacturers round up instead of down. That is a good deal and it will work perfectly. Ordering from Newegg is also great because of their excellent return policy if anything goes wrong. Great find! :)
