Ok...I just bought my Dell XPS M1530 (diidnt receive it yet)....
First, before buying, I asked if the RAM came in DDR2 or DDR3...Most people said DDR3...but when I arrived at the Dell kiosk they said DDR3 was only available for destops until the present time...so I ordered it, and even on the confirmation it said DDR2...Why?
So...tell me...how did u guys get DDR3?

The graphics card is DDR3, the RAM itself is DDR2.
-
The graphics card is GDDR3, the ram is DDR2. DDR3 is not used in laptops yet. Will change with the montevina release in July/august.

DDR3 RAM is not really that much of an improvement over DDR2 RAM anyway. It has much higher latencies and costs much more then DDR2 memory. It does run a a higher clockspeed then DDR2 typically runs at. However, the advantage of DDR3 is not really worth the price yet.
And yes the GPU features GDDR3 memory. I think you confused the system memory with the video memory. -
DDR3 will be an improvement over DDR2 as DDR2 was to DDR1, but it will take time for the prices to come down since it's not mainstream yet. GDDR3 is totally different than DDR3 btw.

Can you stop bringin up old threads, posting the same thing, over and over again? We know it's more expensive, and with no real performance benifits today. That's also what we've been telling people.
