Sorry about all the questions, I just don't want to mess up a new laptop.

Anyways, I was going to reinstall the Dell OS [just for some benchmarking information], with drivers.

    However, I have <quite> a few questions:

Does the Dell Drivers disk support 64-bit OS's?

The Dell Driver disk also says 'Revision A08'. Does this have to do with BIOS A09, or what?

What does BIOS A09 help with? Boot up time, or does it just give more options in the BIOS for certain things? What kind of things? I've heard undervolting the CPU.

Does undervolting the CPU also reduce the clock speeds? [Dont' think it does, usually doesn't]. Does it improve battery life?

    1) Nope, but they have 64-bit drivers on the Dell site, as well as through windows update. This is a good thread for that:

Revision A08 is Revision A08. You will have to download and update to A09 from Dell's support page.

The A09 helps by kicking on the fans at startup to offset the GPU defect that causes problems due to heat cycling which has the greatest affect at startup with the sudden insurge of heat. It also makes the fans kick on at lower temperatures to keep your PC cooler and shaves off only about 10 mins of battery life. Good deal. It has nothing to do with undervolting and doesnt give you any additional options.

Undervolting the CPU doesn't reduce clock speeds and your CPU still performs perfectly. It does improve battery life.

A good undervolting guide is here:

Oh, I know what BIOS I have, I was just wondering if those particular drivers have ANYTHING to do with the BIOS revision I was running.

    Probably not though.

On to my next question, I downloaded the latest drivers from laptopvideo2go, and when I try to setup, it says: "The NVIDIA Setup program could not locate any drivers that are ocmpatible with your current hardware. Setup will now exit."

    Edit:

Figured that one out. Forgot about the modded INF file.

So I should be able to install most if not all 64-bit drivers through Windows Update then?
