I've had my XPS 1530 for 16 months now and haven't really had any issues with it. But on Saturday, I removed the remote control and later tried to replace it, but it just wouldn't go back in. Normally, I just push it in and then it 'locks' in the 'in' position. But I can't push it in to the locked position now... Weird.

    Anyone else experience this?

I haven't had this problem at all. I've only used the remote a *handful* of times..Now, I have misplaced it

I use the slot for my MoGo X54 BT Mouse now. But, when I did use the remote, sometimes it was a bit rigid pushing in a few times.

I hope someone else is able to help you. Have you tried a *firm* pressured push on it at all?

    Cin ;) :)

hmm maybe you bent some parts inside? try flashing light into the slot and see if there is anything wrong.

If you're interested, I may be getting rid of my ExpressCard remote for my Studio 15, because I'll be buying one of the newer black remotes (the one with the power button and Windows Media Center button).

Probably the locking mechanism for the spring is broken, or the pin has fallen out.. Give Dell a call, they might replace it, in case it's under warranty.. If it isn't.. you could try opening the case and see if a homemade fix is possible..

Thanks, Mastershroom. You post reminds me that Dell inadvertently sent me two remote when I purchased this notebook. I'll try the other one.

Yes, it seems like something in there is broken. I'd hate for one of their tech to come out and open up my XPS just to fix this issues though.

I wouldn't worry about it. The technicians that Dell sends out know what they're doing. I've had two of them here this week to replace my DVD drive and motherboard. Even for the motherboard swap, the whole process didn't take more than half an hour, and this guy was moving at light speed, but still didn't miss any screws or anything.

If Dell wants to send a technician to you, I'd accept it.
