Hi.. Did you try any gaming software to see what the temp difference is? I run COD 5 and the game slows down I think due to the heat. Will a few degrees make a difference?

    Thanks,

    George

That really depends on the GPU.

Alot of GPU's will automatically downclock once they reach a certain temperature, which will cause your FPS to crash until it cools down. This usually throttles back and forth, since as soon as it cools down and your FPS go back up, the GPU heats up again.

So, its really hard to generalize. Factors like, where your GPU is located in your machine, would the cool air from the cooler reach that area? In my case, the SXPS 16 has a couple vents on the bottom, and so the cool air reached some internal components more than others.

Then it also depends on how much of a difference your GPU needs in order not to downclock. I got up to 10 degrees difference at shorter gaming times, which is about as cool as its going to get.

First thing I would do is try Arctic Silver Thermal Compound, then see what your temperatures look like (also, post a HW Monitor report on this thread so we can see your temps and tell you if they look normal or not). If Arctic Silver doesn't help, try a cooling pad. Let us know.
