I don't have to go into details on how Sandy Bridge will be so much faster than anything out now.

I am just curious on when I can build a DELL 15 XPS with B+RGB LED 1080p display and a Sandy Bridge processor.I need something with good battery life and portable.

January maybe, probably february. They're expected to be expensive in the first months because intel has a huge supply of Arrandales/Clarksfield to dispose of and so it's been reported they're going to charge a premium on Sandy Bridge for the first few months.

Hi, I just have a few questions for which I thought making a thread would be a waste.

First of all, what is this Sandy Bridge? Any indication on the performance in comparison to the i3, 5, 7 processors? (if any relation at all  )

    TIA

There's no information about a Sandy Bridge arrival to XPS date. Maybe January, maybe October, maybe not at all.

Yea you're right, Dell will never bring Sandy Bridge on the XPS 15. It's just not that interesting after all, plus these laptops have been out for decades now and will probably get discontinued, since consumers and technical sites loathe them. And it's not like Dell had an habit of quickly refreshing the CPUs with new material either. So I think they'll humbly pass the torch to their competitors on that one and rather concentrate on bringing back playmobils into fashion, or something like that. Maybe they'll finally bring it when Ivy Bridge or Haswell is out, for the sake of nostalgia.

    Just watch and learn

YouTube - Performance Demo of Sandy Bridge 2nd Core Generation vs. Core i7

Sandy Bridge is totally new just like the Core series took the NorthBridge off the Motherboard and onto the CPU Sandy Bridge takes the Graphics off the motherboard and onto the CPU. So thats HUGE battery life savings. Not to mention they will all be 32nm. And best of all Sandy Bridge will be able to Turbo Boost much better and Turbo boost ALL COREs more of the time. And it can also Turbo Boost the Graphics. And more.

There is at least a rumor/leaked information regarding XPS 17 with Intel Sandy Bridge. XPS is high end mainstream notebook & I doubt Dell will discontinued it.
