looks like im buying the xps 15 :)

just thought I would get some opinions from owners and maybe even problems that the xps may have that I don't know about?

getting the 540m upgraded screen i7-2620M processor 2.70 GHz (thinking about going to the i7-2720QM processor 2.20 GHz)
    and 8 gigs of ram

A problem that seems to be common with the xps 15 is the fan noise. The fan seems to like to kick in and make a lot of noise when you're not even doing any resource intensive stuff. I personally find it more of an annoyance than a full blown problem and it's an annoyance I can live with.

if thats the only problem with the xps 15 then im liking this more and more

Powerful and a nice looking laptop. Can play recent games with reasonable video settings. Great speakers.

Don't get the 2620M, "downgrade" to the 2630QM. The i7-2620M is just an i5 on steroids (and not very many steroids at that :D)

If the 2620M is the cheapest processor available, consider stepping to a lower base-model. Otherwise if the 2720QM doesn't cost that much more ($30-$50 realm) it's probably worth it.

The fan noise problem doesn't appear to be a class issue. Another engineer on my ship has an XPS 15 too and neither of our fans are noisy.
