i have the original ms media center remote and the vista media center remotes laying around somewhere i assume theres an ir port that will pick up the remotes transmission so will maybe give that a whirl when i need to

I got one on ebay for like $12 shipped. Works like a charm. The XPS16 has a infrared port on its front right.

Got a Studio XPS 16 in Europe with an integrated TV DVB-T tuner (turns out to be an avermedia Nano-T, IIRC) and explicitly ordered a Dell Travel Remote (approx 4€) to go together with it (no remote included by default nor listed in the configurator).
Works perfectly, and can be stored in the PC Card slot when not in use.

I got a remote with my Tuner! Actually the funny thing is I got the tuner and a remote BUT NOT THE COMPUTER! My computer is delayed but they sent me the Xpress card tuner next day air? And it came with a DELL remote to run it.
