So I've got my (2nd) replacement backlit keyboard - the first replaced the standard keyboard (without illumination), but several months ago I awoke to find an empty pint of water on the floor, and a laptop with no enter key functionality.

Attempts to revive the keyboard with some rice failed in vain, so last night we attempted installation of the new keyboard.

It's been so long since I've had this luxury that I can't remember if it's driver-dependent: whether quickset is needed, whether the behaviour is only available from login (as oppose to boot-menu time, for example).

I've installed quickset, I see the backlit status change in Windows Mobility Center when I strike Fn+F6, but I don't get backlit :( no lights, nada.

My greatest fear is that the water damage went THROUGH the entire unit (the bottom was damp, there was trace water marks... the laptop was on at the time).

My bro's asking if we can find some PIN data, to ascertain whether there's a fault on the unit by (if possible) powering the required pins on the keyboard to illuminate it without the computer...

I've contacted the vendor and reported the issue, it's possible it's a bad unit...

    Thoughts and info welcome.
