can anyone please point me the average battery life they get in windows xp . mine is core2duot8100 , nvidia geforce 8600 m gt and battery meter shows only 2 hour and 15 minutes. at the same brightness and other settings i get 3hours in vista(power saver). my battery is 6 cell just one month old.

is there any underclocking utility that has native support for penryn.

do i have to install any extras for enabling all power saving features in penryn for windows xp

Undervolting is what you need. It is better than underclocking without any performance loss. It will also make your notebook run cooler. Read the guide Johhny T posted

I have a similar config, expect for a T7250 and in XP I was getting 3hours and 20minutes on "max battery".

Undervolting will help, but it is not going to make you jump up from 2hours to 3hours. But with that being said, RMclock itself is a sweet app, and makes it easy to select your power scheme (if it was not already easy enough).
