Hey!
After my examinations, I want to put an ssd in my laptop, and replace my dvd drive with my hard drive (or a 750gb one, if I have enough money)
Anyway, a friend of mine told me that the fastest ssd's are on a new type of sata, one my pc doesn't have. So my question is: What is the best ssd to buy? I don't want to buy a really expensive one, only to discover that my pc is not capable of reading and writing that fast. Also, is 60 gb enough for Windows 7 and all my programs? or do I need more?

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
It really depends on your budget. Given the latest fiasco with SandForce 2000 controllers, I would avoid SandForce entirely (I personally have 2 SF-1200 based ones). Take a look at Intel, Samsung or Crucial.
I find 60 should be the minimum but I used a 30 GB Vertex just for the OS and basic stuff and it was fine for over a year. 80+ recommended. -
60GB is plenty for Windows 7, utilities, and games. I'm using a 120GB and it's less than half full. Normally, I'd say that the Crucial drives are probably the best, but their speed is size dependent, so their 60GB drives aren't as fast as their 120 or 256GB drives are. A SF-1200 based drive (Vertex 2, Phoenix Pro, etc) would probably be your best bet on a small OS/application drive, and can be had at a decent price.

But what is the maximum speed a dell Studio xps 16 can handle?

You're thinking of SATA II vs SATA III. The SXPS16 is SATA II. The difference is small, as even the fastest SSDs will only saturate the SATA II bandwidth under certain circumstances. SATA III drives will still function in SATA II systems, with only a very minimal performance hit. I wouldn't worry too much about it.
