I need some clarification on a couple of points. I was interested in a XPS 15" for mostly video streaming and watching tv shows on computer and also using Push 2go
with my flat screen tv. I have a 17" Insperion now with 1920 x 1080 res. screen, so screen resolution is very important to me, and I do use it as a desk top replacement.
But when I travel once a year for a couple of months, I hate lugging this (hence considering 15") I looked at deal offered on 17" and to keep my costs down ($1,050) it specs out LCD 17.3" FHD (1010p) screen. But some comments left on the Dell website indicate that it is not the 1920 x 1080 resolution. The other 15" one I specked out, says 15.6: FHD B=RGLED TL (1920 x 1080)
Are they two different screens?
Second question, I'm a little embarrassed asking this one. It concerns a blue ray disk player. As I am trying to get my costs down, I am trimming things that are not absolutely nec.
So, I want to know is if a blue ray player has any other benefit other than playing blue ray video disks on your computer. Would it do anything else other than play a blue ray movie? (sounds like a dumb question, I know, but just don't want to make any mistakes) I'm not too up on Blue Ray, but probably would not want to spend the money to buy a movie in that format cause of cost.

"LCD 17.3" FHD (1010p)"
Where did you see this?
Also, a blu-ray drive can read blu-ray discs. This includes blu-ray video and data discs just like DVDs. As far as I know there is no other benefit. -
Under the config starting at $899 for the i5. It is a $100 upgrade. Is there a difference in the screens? (my original question)

"17.3" FHD (1080p) with 2.0MP HD Webcam [Add $100.00 or $3.00/month1]"?
It seems to say 1080p when I access this page from where I am. I only see 900p and 1080p options.
FHD(Full High Definition) refers to a 1920x1080 resolution. -
1010p doesn't exist. Yes it could be made but it isn't. -
But is there a difference in resolution between (besides matte screen) Is the (as stated on Dell options) FHD 1080p have the same resolution
as the FHD B+RGLED TL (1920 x 1080) again as an option on another laptop? Or are they two different animals? -

Gotcha. Thank you very much MadmattD.

And I love my XPS 17. It weighs about the same or even less than my old 14" Inspiron 1150 (c.a. 2005) if weight is the reason you don't like lugging the 17". I have taken mine on numerous plane flights even, it lives under the seat in front of me.
