can we play all the high graphics games such as crysis, assasins creed, gta 4..plz tell ur experience...canwe keep in high settings and play
-
no. at least not for GTA IV.
-
wat u mean by no.u mean e cant play or we cant play using high settings
-
GTA 4 sets graphics settings automatically, so you can play but not at the highest graphical settings.
-
GTA IV has very high graphics requirements. But it will play fine on the xps 16 on low-medium settings.
-
Yeah GTA4 is basically the only thing holding you back. My friend was able to play Crysis with most settings at High(not Ultra High, only High) so Crysis is possible at least.
Aside from that, more or less everything else should be relatively well playable. The HD3670 should handle everything the market throws at it currently if you tweak the settings. -
It's funny, I can't play Crysis at all, it lags in the menu's. Gameplay looks like a high res camera in slow motion at the lowest settings.
-
What language is that? -
Crysis plays fine for me with high settings. This is with the Dell provided drivers. -
What resolution?
-
You have the ssd and I'm wondering if that makes a difference.
-
I doubt it -- I wasn't playing at 1920x1080. I no longer have it installed, but the resulution might have been 1280x800. Anyway, good enough for me.
-
Weird, I seriously couldn't even get through the start up screen it was lagging so bad.
-
Well I don't have the personal experience fso I can't comment, but I'm assuming he put the lower resolution (the 1366*768 one) and he said not everything was at high so maybe shadows at such were lower to improve performance.
-
I have the WLED so I can only run 1366 x 768. I put everything as low as it would go but oh well. I didn't buy it to play Crysis, if I did I would have bought a desktop. It still makes me wonder how some people are doing things others can't.
-
Yeah, that might have been the resolution. I have to add that it wasn't the full Crysis, but the demo version. All, but one option was set to High, I don't know which one wasn't.
The fact that you are getting lagging even when you are on the menu screen indicates some problem. -
I agree, I was also with the Demo as well. I have to say though, I didn't try it with Vista, only Windows 7. The thing is, I have seen increased performance with Win 7 over Vista in the other games I play. Either way, it was unplayable on my system. I wish we could figure out why there is such a vast difference in performance. You do have a faster processor then me, but is .13 MHZ going to make a difference? I don't think so. Could it be the extra 3 MB of cache?
-
Not on a menu screen -- not much is going on there.
-
Actually, it was the in game menu screen. You know when the game loads and the movie playing where the airplane is flying in? I opened the menu to change my settings then, and even though the game was paused, it was choppy moving around the menu. So again I ask, during gameplay would the extra 3 MB of cache make that much of a difference?
-
I have seen videos in youtube, where a guy plays crysis without any lags and settings with gamer i think so.
-
I'm not saying I don't believe it. If you read back I'm asking what could be the differences in configuration to make it happen.
I have the laptop, I use it everyday, I'm no idiot. It's NOT playable on my system. -
Uh, why not try using different video drivers to see if that makes a difference?
-
I'm using the same driver as SXPS16 and he can play it, why would I want to do that?
-
@ N20D5OH: I have the exact same configuration as yours. I was able to play crysis warhead at 1280x768 at gamer setting. Everything was going really good, no lag at all. But then to the second stage of the game where there are a lot of snow, ice and enemies, the machine couldn't handle that, I had to lower the setting down to mainstream and it was ok, still had some frame drops though.
-
Brendanmurphy Your Worst Nightmare
I cant even do the first stage at 800 x 600 at lowest everything and it dosent work. 5 - 7 fps -
If it's that drastic of a difference, then something is wrong...could be anything from overheating, to too high graphic options enabled, to bad drivers causing issues. IMO, when trying to game everyone should use the latest drivers from LV2Go regardless of whether they're fully supported by dell or not. They do make a difference.
-
I am using the latest drivers from Dell's download page; I never had any luck installing any other drivers, so I stopped trying.
Sorry I cannot offer any more suggestion as to why such a big difference in performance. I don't think it's the CPU cache; never say never but Crysis in all likelihood is a GPU limited game. -
there seems to be mixed reviews whether the xps16 can handle these kinds of games or not. But my assumption is that you have some background programs that eat up bunch of resources. When I play game, I try to turn those programs off, just keeping my instant message running.
-
Ah, I though you were running Win 7, I guess not. Maybe I'll partition my drive and throw Vista on it again and nothing else just to see if it'll run better. Like I said, the other games I play work great on Win 7 with the Modded driver from ATI.
-
ok, i couldnt play crysis either. i made 7-10fps on 800x600 lowest.
i was on A06 bios and the newest ati drivers (9.4 or 9.5 i think).
what i did was install the newestest dell drivers, and install A05 again and i get 20fps on med-high at 1024x768 -
There shouldn't be such a drastic difference, we are all on "same" basic systems. Just to check, i downloaded the Crysis demo and set it @ 1280x800. Everything was set to high except shadows which were set at medium.
It was playable and if i were to guess it was @ 20-25FPS. This was using Vista 64 bit and latest Catalyst drivers.
can we play all the high graphics game on studio xps 16
