    Hi!
I bougth a used dell inspiron xps(1st gen)
I opened it and aplied termal paste to the cpu and the gpu but i forgot the chipset.(the termal paste was a low brand "VIO")
So far here are my peak temps. after 15 min of gaming
    Intel P4 3.4 ghz. (58c)
    ati 9700 (54c)
chipset (62c) this one concerns me
    memory (49)

    Are this temps ok? i have never used a 3ghz+ P4 , i've always used AMD's cpu

Also i have a xp sp2 disk that belongs to my other laptop and wanted to reinstall the Os using this CD, on the back it has a XP pro serial, but when i use my disk it doesn't accept the serial,Any idea why?
    Thank's for the help!

Those are definitely fine. The P4 wasn't the most thermal efficient mobile processor, I know mine was always toasty.

75C is pretty high. Is it always 75? Because the program may be misreading the sensor.

75C is still ok. You might want to consider cleaning the dust from the laptop and raising the back .
