I know it souds stupid but my XPS really needs a cooler. When I use it for a long time, the left side of the laptop tends to get warmer which is irritating. Most of the coolers have fans in the middle so only the center area of my laptop is cool. The left side is still hot. wonder if there's any cooler that would do the magic?

Get a zalman cooler. The black aluminum matches the XPS and it keeps my M1530 at least 5 degrees cooler on everything.
Did I mention you almost CAN'T hear the two fans even while on high? But, you can definately feel and see them working. -
remember the hard drive is located on left side of touch pad so you get some heat.

I would suggest the Zalman NC2000.. it has two fans at the back but the air is spread evenly at the base of the laptop.. and it cools by system by a good 4 to 5 deg C.. for some pictures of the Zalman with the XPS M1530, please look here...

I bought the thermaltake from circuitcity and it looks ridiculous because it doesn't fit the bottom of my laptop. It's too small. Is your XPS 15''?
-
nc2000 would probably fit yur needs.
nzxt cryo LX (what i use and recommend) if u don't mind spendin a little extra. -
Go get yourself a Zalman NC2000.. would fit you well. Else take a look at houstoned' suggestion as well.
Its always nice to check out a few before getting one
