So I when I first got this laptop a few weeks ago I instantly installed lucid lynx. So I am dual booting between W7 and lucid. The odd thing I see is that the grub menu seems to take a random amount of time to come up. Sometimes it takes a few second to get to the OS list - other times it takes more than 10 seconds. Also - sometimes the OS list will come up - but the keyboard will to be recognized for another few seconds (like 5 or more seconds)

    Odd huh? Just a annoyance.

I should add - it sometime seems to take an extra long time for the bios splash screen to appear after hitting the power button.

Hmm... I've had linux (ubuntu) installed prior to my win7 format, and I have not had such an issue. Perhaps it is something with the linux u are using.

It really depends on how many times you are restarting the pc. As it is set by default to do a fast bios boot (ex. skip certain tests during boot) it usually needs to do a full system check every once in a while. This is the reason why sometimes you have those slow boot ups. If you have a lot of ram installed the delays are longer due to the fact that every kb of ram needs to checked prior booting.
