Hello elverde (hmm spanish name lol :D) let me tell you some aspects of the xps m1530.

1- fan noise, personally, fan noise is very low, even when stressing your computer at 100%, you may hear the flush of air, and a bit of Zzzzzzz from the motor, if you were wondeing, while watching a movie, the fan won't bother you, and it stays off until it has to cool off the computer, so it might never come in while browsing the web or listening to music.

2- weight, depending on what screen, and also what hard drive you chose, it can vary, i would say that it is average, not too light, but also not too heavy. (its lighter than an Xbox 360, if thats of any help)

    Cheers!

Yes i have used an hp pavilion, and the fan is more silent than the XPS, but i have recorded voices and music on my XPS m1530, while doing so it will use "some" of the CPU so the fan may kick in at low speeds, but making no sound at all, it only starts making noise when you are stressing it to full on both CPU and GPU, so i dont think that will be a problem.

    BTW, de donde eres? :D

I have the 1530 (since 1/08)...and I hardly ever hear the fan..unless I'm really listening for it! :D

Here is the weight info for the 1530:
Weight: 5.9 lbs w/6 cell batt, and 6.29 lbs w/9 cell batt.

So, really I don't think it's bad...I'm petite and carry mine in a backpack or a messenger bag. :D
And, I carry it around at home from room to room..and there are no *stresss* per se :D

    Hope that helps,

    Cin ;) :)

yea my fan barely ever comes on high unless im gaming or something, and i have the LED screen which reduces the weight to about 5.7 lb with 6 cell, not much of a decrease but a little bit.
