    Hey guys im planning on getting the xps m1530 here in australia. However i dont have that much money (student) so i pretty much can afford the basic stuff. So i was wondering today whether the 2 year warranty (+$129 AU) is really worth it because i heard there were several heat issues with the graphics card and stuff.

    Thanks guys.

    Well...if your trying to save on money..and you feel secure without having the additional 2 years ~ you may want to forgo.

    You already will have the one year warranty with the 1530. ;)

    And as for the heat / graphic card issues, that has been a problem for some people, some not.

    No notebook is perfect...(what a world it would be if it were). I've never had prob's with the heat or graphics card issues on mine.

    I have 3 year on mine...because my 1530 is my first lappy, and I wanted to make sure I was covered *all around* per se.

    Cin ;) :)

    Dell is extended the warranty to cover the GPU an additional year. You may want to ask them to make sure this applies to Australia as well. You can always extend the warranty later before it expires.

    They've resolved the issues, but keep in mind there are many people whose notebooks still work fine even though they bought it right when the M1530 launched. I wouldn't be concerned with getting an extended warranty as within 2 years from now, Calpella will have launched and Dell will most likely have come out with a newer model that will be superior to the XPS M1530 and be sleeker. Though it is yet to be seen. Studio XPS 16 is nice, but, not without its drawbacks physically and technically.

    yeah the xps 16 is not really an option for me.

    m1530 = $1600 (australian dollar)
    xps 16 = $2600 (australian dollar)

    Get the warranty IMO. Many will say its your call, but it never hurts to be safe, and it is a small price to pay considering the benefits it may bring you.

    well, you can sign up for 1 year, and extend one more later if you feel like you need it.

    You just received it and it was like that?? That's horrible :(

    Dell, should have replaced it with a NEW one..not sent a Technician to fix it.

    You really should call Dell back, and tell them to send you a new one. And, ask them what they can do for your not receiving the extras..Though, that promo' ended many, months ago. ;)
