Shame they are no longer doing 15.4" as anything more would be too big imo. Although they may change the shape and amount of plastic around the screens to keep the size the same but with larger screen surface.

Would be nice on the next XPS line if they moved the XPS logo up to the centre where the Dell circle logo is now, and then put the "DELL" type logo with tilted 'E' in a position similar to where the "XPS" is now. Jus to make it more obvious.

They should also make it so that all XPS have the "XPS" on the touchpad and not just keep it to the 17" gamer XPS range.

Of course it will probably get a few more design touches I am guessing and not keep the same general look. Couldn't see how they could get it any thinner either without making the overall cost a lot higher and they can't drop USB ports etc imo.

From what I have read they will be selling their Alienware range through the Dell website as the new gamer laptops instead of the M1710 and M1730.

The new XPS (or Studio XPS as it's supposed to be called) will probably have a graphics card eqivillent to a 9600M GT. Either the ATi equivillent or the 9600M GT 512mb I would predict.

Montevina update is more for battery life so if you only care about performance I wouldn't really bother waiting.

The 1730 plays ANY game at 1920x1200, high details, and it's got all the features to go around. Not to mention the light show.
I'll be happy with it for at least 3 years( CC that is :D)

yea these new laptops arent even technically XPS anymore, and they arent the same nice brushed metal body we all love from the current XPS. They are trying to combine the xps and studio now so yea

Face Jones they will probably have the regular studio, and then also a studio XPS. The Studio XPS will be similar in weight and materials etc to the current M1330 and M1530 but I would think they will redesign it slightly.

Personally I think the current XPS laptops look fantastic and don't think they can improve it much other than the small things I suggested earlier. That would make it more obvioius it is an XPS lol.

i really cant see them doing that just because that would be like not changing anything at all, and the reason they are dropping the xps line is to cut out the higher end gaming laptops to let alienware have it. You may be right but even the stuido XPS wont be as nice as what a completely new XPS would be, inside or out.

Any chance of a m1840? Also, does the merging with alienware into one website indicate new laptops from them?

montevina p chips has 25w tdp vs t series 35w, the speed is exaclty same though, higher fsb 1066mhz dont really make any diference.
i cant wait for the the new studio xps 16, 16:9 screen, hope it has led option.
regarding current xps lineups, after owned 3 xps comps, 1 xps410 desktop, 1 xps m1330, 1 xps m1730, i have to say current xps are poorly designed and likely a financial disaster to dell.

yea but i owned a brand new studio and if the design of the xps m1530 is as bad as you say then the studio is even worse, with much cheaper materials, and if thats the way dell is going then they need to be looking for alternatives to following that path.

not sure why the xps are supposed to be badly designed but i love the look and feel of mine.

Ive tried alot of lappys lately and this one really caught me above the others.

each to their own i guess and whatever your previously used to :)

The 1530 is a great laptop but if people have a bad experience (or more than 1) then they are going to be bitter towards Dell and not recommend them (This is nothing wrong with them its just how most people would be).

But its just the unlucky few have problems, the M1530 is awesome. If everybody who loved theirs and had no problems posted on here it would way outnumber those who hate the XPS line.
