It just means it's an IGP board. It will use the onboard GPU on whatever CPU you put in it.

It's possible you could have a DoA board, but what CPU are you trying to install?

So you're trying to test the new motherboard without installing a CPU?

Right, you bought a board without discrete graphics, but it should "just work" with the HD3000 IGP on the 2630QM... if this is a "legit" motherboard, which is what I'm trying to verify. Basically if the L502x shipped in an IGP-only configuration, a board without the dGPU is expected to exist, and likewise, should "just work". If not, then this board is extremely shady, and I'd be surprised that such a thing is even available for you to buy.

Yeah, looking at the part number there are a couple of these available, so it is probably legit. So you could have gotten a DoA board or are assembling something wrong. It also could be something like the IGP board doesn't support and never shipped with quads (as they are 45W parts), but it's impossible for me to know or guess that without having seen the shipping configurations.

part of the heatsink is supposed to go on the dedicated graphic card chip. Now im just tighting the screws around it.Possible my ram might be fried? i might install new ram, The guy on CL who repaired my motherboard replaced a couple chips, said the there were short with the powerjack, i replaced a brand new jack, also said he fix the usb. possible Ram might been shorted.

The extra heatsink section should not affect anything, as long as it's not touching the mobo, etc. No way to test your RAM without a good machine, though.

Unless it has integrated RAM (and the L502x doesn't), no.

Well, my guess would be incompatibility with the 2630QM (based on what I've seen testing a Q9000 in an E6400), but I can only speculate from here.
