So - I received my 1330 last month and love it... I had ordered it with the LED screen - when i got it i did notice that it was not quite as bright as the LED Screen on my M2400 but was not overly worried.

I was reading some threads today and decided to have a look at the hardware Id in device manager and big surprise it says Sec5441... according to the threads i have read that is not an LED screen.

before i call dell on Monday and raise hell - can someone confirm that that is indeed not an LED screen.

    thanks.

    Guillaume

I have a Samsung LED in my m1330, and the hardware ID is SEC5441. So, yes you have a Samsung brand LED in your computer. Dont raise hell :)

You are lucky that your computer came with a Samsung LED. Most of us went through hoops to get the grainy, crappy CMO screens replaced with Samsung (or Toshiba).

The two m1330s we have now include a Samsung and a Toshiba screen. Samsung is brighter and crispier, but the blues are off. It seems to be the general "feature" of many Samsung LCDs; my 22" monitor has the same color profile. If you are interested in "adjusting" your blue tones, here is a good web page:
    http://arsicles.com/2007/05/26/review-samsung-226bw-lcd-c-panel

Toshiba has good color profile, but it's a bit dimmer compared to Samsung.

Another "feature" of the Samsung LED is that if you are on battery power and lower the brigtness from the full setting, it emits a high-pitch whine. Some people -including myself- are not bothered with it, but I know people who returned their computers because of this.

As for CMO LED, I dont have anything good to say, so I wont say anything :)

Sorry for the long post. Just wanted to give some information on the different LED screen.
