You'll definitely want the 130w power supply.

I paid like $50 more for a brand new system a month ago. It came with the better video card and WLED screen.

ya i know the RGBLED itself costs around 300$,also 5730 is roughly 10-15% better but i dont do a lot of gaming so it doesn't matter.

i will call dell and ask for 130w power supply as soon as my system arrives

sounds reasonable, i honestly havent seen any cheap 1645s with both i7 processor and RGB led screen combo. 1k is a good price although i dont know if you need the quadro or not, i7 runs hotter than i5 chips.

yet, it will get outdated within six months when the new intel sandy bridge series of processors will hit the market in early Q1 of 2011 with many new features. that is the sad part of technology. :(
in my opinion you should keep the i7 processor because now more and more softwares are going to be built for quad-core processors and after three years when intel will launch the haswell platform based processors, there will not be any dual core but quad and hexa core processors and all the softwares will be made for them. so go for i7 for future security.

I wonder how you can invest $1120 in a buggy laptop. This model comes with different new defects approx each day here at NBR.

That is a pretty good deal in my opinion for refurb. Wow these prices really dropped! Also 1333 MHz RAM would work better than 1067 MHz RAM with a quad core i7. I'd say go for it.

    Take following points into consideration:
    # Go for RGB-LED only if you like it very much or need it (for video editing, etc.) because it seems that xps 16 series with this screen are more prone to the problems of throttling.
    # Intel has started producing i7-740QM instead of i7-720QM. Dell India has already started selling them, so go for it if you can.
    #always use 130W adapter with xps 1645.
#you may try ATI HD 5730 graphics card because of its better performance. Not only it helps in better gaming performance, it also uses less power and reduces throttling up to some extent.
    # As I said before, go for i7 processor instead of i5 if you want future security. Also, RAM works at 1333 MHz with an i7 processor (compared to 1067 MHz with an i5 processor)
#your rest configuration is very good and well priced for a refurbished laptop.
#due to the overwhelming response it got for the upcoming sandy bridge processors, intel has decided to go for their production earlier than expected. While the desktop versions will start shipping in the Q4 of this year, the laptop versions will probably arrive in Q1 of 2011. The new line of processors is much more power efficient and are rumored to cause less heat production than the current i7 processors. They are to be built on 32 nm platform rather than the current 45 nm one and are coming with various new features.

Regarding myself: I am only a notebook enthusiast and I always try to gather information about the upcoming technology from various sources.

Do you know if sandybridge will use the same socket as existing i7's?

They will be split into two markets: mainstream and enthusiast. The mainstream models will replace the current LGA1156 'H1' Clarkdale and Lynnfield CPUs (Core i3 and Core i5) and will use LGA1155 'H2' packaging.

Yes, that's right, LGA1155 - one fewer pins than current LGA1156 CPUs. These sockets are NOT compatible, so you cannot use an existing LGA1156 CPU in a new motherboard or visa versa. Not only is the position of pin-1 different, the socket notch has moved from 9mm to 11.5mm from the centre and the entire voltage plane layout has changed.
Next is Sandy Bridge 'E' (Enthusiast or Extreme, take your pick) 'Patsburg' platform, which features a huge new LGA2011 socket to replace LGA1366 (currently used in i7-900 series CPU) in Q3 next year (although right now that seems dubiously convenient given the year of launch).
