    Hi all,

Does anyone else have the above issue? Ejecting any cd/dvd media causes the whole pc to freeze until the disc is finished ejecting. This includes any music or video that might be playing at the time. Is this by design? If not, how can I avoid this happening? Perhaps a driver update or something? I'm running XP Pro on an XPS m1530.

    Thanks.

I did search but didn't find anything. Found a thread about it after searching again. I want to know if ALL 1530s are like this: Does anyone have an m1530 that does not pause/skip while ejecting a dvd/cd using the eject media touch button? You can simply play a music file and eject the disc to test this.

I'm using Vista, it happens to me too. If you're listening to something where you don't want to the skipping to interrupt you, you can also open up My Computer, right click the drive and eject it that way which will result in no freezing of any kind.

yeah I realise the software eject doesn't cause this...but imho this shouldn't happen with the hardware button either. I've never seen this before this other computers.

I have the issue too. I run Vista and the music gets choppy untill the CD\DVD out.. poor XPS looks constipated when it tries to eject the CD:laugh:

Hello Guys. Just bought an XPS 1530 in Feb and provides the same issue with the eject button. Moreover I am unable to install the Bluetooth driver. (set in the BIOS but never came up in the device manager). When trying to install the driver from the CD (which was not supplied in the original package by default  ) a window pops up asking to press Fn+F2 but nothing happens.
    What I've done so far:

    1. called Dell Support > absolutely useless (holding the line for about 45 mins). as starting the troubleshooting from the very beginning (Repair your computer, etc...) and stating they have never heard about this problem...

    2. After 3 days hanging on the phone was resulted that finally an engineer was sent today and replaced the Mat****a drive for a SONY. Problem still exists. He had no clue what can cause this even the problem with the bluetooth.

    3. He'll back on monday to replace the Motherboard and the Bluetooth adapter. Fingers crossed. Details will follow...

rstrauss33 >>> the first blue icon on the left will solve your problem

The problem can be solved by updating the bios to version A12. It can be found on dell's website.
