    Hi!
I had a lot of trouble with my xps m1330, had already a replacement.

Now I had again more than 3 motherboard changes and Dell told me I can have a new xps m1330, studio xps 13 or maybe some other Notebook.

    What do you think?
get a xps m1330 again....and ask for some upgrade?
or get a studio xps 13? I heard that its not soo good,

or get instead some other Notebook?

    Dell M1330 Red Editon T8300/LED/4GB/8400M/BT/Fingerprint/N/3y/9Cell

    any tipp for me?

Depends...Do you want another 13"? Do you want to go with another model?

How about trying a Latitude? Or, a Precision? :D They are both excellent Models! :)

    What about the Studio line?

It, depends on how much you liked the 1330? After 3 Motherboards..I think I would just be: /Done.

I like the SXPS 1340. I have had some major problems with my XPS 1530...Next repair..I am supposedly *able to get a replacement*, and I will prolly push for the SXPS 1340.

You need to think over what you have been thru with the 1330. The end of life on the 1330 is nearly *over*. All the problems that have been going on with the 1330, etc. You have some *power* in your hands now..and some nice choices that you can make on your replacement! :D

    Cin...

how long more is your warranty? with your 3 mobo luck, i'd push for a studio xps 13 with the highest GPU possible...

ask if a refund is possible, or a dell credit to another laptop or desktop that you want

i still think that desktops are the way to go for power, while laptops are for mobility... if i had a choice now to pick a system for my college lifestyle, i'd go with a netbook and a powerful desktop

The sxps 13 is an updated version of the xps 1330 so go for the sxps 13 if you still want the same screen size and portability. Otherwise they have to give you the same specs or better.

Not to mention the SXPS 13 would pack a better and less problem ridden GPU than the M1330.

With a system exchange, I don't believe you have a choice. I am getting my XPS M1530 replaced due to constant problems. They didn't ask what I want, but they're sending me an Studio XPS 16. Waiting for it to arrive now. They gave me a significant upgrade in every feature...

How many and what kinds of problems do you need to have in order to get them to replace your notebook with a brand new one?

If you go to that link, I have listed all the problems I had with my laptop. And I believe that the replacement is a refurb and not a brand new one. Either way, the M1530 gave me so many problems I'm happy with a refurb.

They will probably give you a Studio XPS 13.
Request a Latitude if thats what you want :)

You get a replacement, when something has been replaced 3 times and it still does not work.

Don't get your hopes on the highest configs for a erplacement. As I've said before, the policy states that the replacement system will have to equal the original system if not better. So you will probably get a few few upgrades but you wont get top spec.

I don't think that they will even offer you a business notebook, only consumer ones, so from those 3 configs you are most likely to get the Studio XPS 13. But if a miracle happens and they offer you Latitude E6400, TAKE IT without even thinking twice!!! :D

You serious? With the config he posted he should pick the SXPS 13. There both basically (Don't know which GPU is better) the same but the SXPs brings the SSD.

I highly doubt they would give you a 256GB Solid State drive over a traditional mechanical Hard Disk Drive. SSDs are still very expensive. If by some strange chance they really are willing to give you a Studio XPS 13 with a 256GB Solid State drive, go for it. If not, I'd go for the Latitude E6400 all the way, it is Dells best laptop in my opinion.

Personally, I would get the Studio XPS 13. I love my replacement. The 1330 was a great notebook but it felt a little weak and creaked. the studio XPS is perfect. The only problem i have is that the plastic covering on the screen Edge to Edge is protruding which is annoying but otherwise it's awesome. My specs are the same except i got a 500GB 7.2K RPM instead of the 120GB 5.4K RPM drive.

dang how did you get a replacement?

unless your hearts set on a particular replacement, i'd get the replacement and then sell it on ebay and put the money towards a new unit entirely

A SXPS is fine.. but the killer for me is no fingerprint reader.. That thing is extremely convenient!
