on my m1530 i have the 2.2 dual core, 3gb ram,8600m gt video card and i think the 160gb HD. Just curious if anyone on here has done similar system exchange and curious what they got.

I personally think you shouldn't do the swap, I currently have the M1530 and have used the XPS 16 with virtually identical specs and seriously find the M1530 better. Also I have read in other threads that the XPS 16 has many problems. I suggest you look at other threads about the XPS 16 before making any decisions.

well this is like the 3rd mobo and some other stuff has gone wrong on my m1530, it runs extremely hot atm and they said instead of replacing it with another board/processor that system exchange was best option for me. they dont even make the m1530 anymore so impossible for them to give me it.

Only other option would be to have them replace this cpu board and processor again..........

Hmm but is there a way of replacing it with another system instead of the XPS 16 because I have only read recently in some threads a lot of people were experiencing issues with it?

eh maybe, probably have to wait until a few months and complain about the xps 16 (if it turns out to be crap) and get the next system that is available then.

also from what i read the xps 16 has tons of hard drive issues :(

Yeah exactly, main reason I wasn't recommending it, but then again you can always give it a go yourself.

il try the xps 16, if it runs and isnt a space heater i will keep it. i just would like to at least get the better graphics card on the 1640 but dell isnt posting the specs until the order has been completed i guess.

one bright spot is i can just keep doing system exchanges until dell replaces the xps series with a "quality" laptop

Yeah not a bad idea, at least that way you can test out their laptops from time to time and then finally get a one that will last long eventually.
