hi! im buying the m1530 someday this week.. I wanted to know what are the user feedbacks from the uk...how is the build quality, what is the most probable screen brand? ( lg or AUO or samsung?).. did you have machine failures shortly after purchase? i bought my dell vostro last december and i got an lg screen. its a brilliant 17" screen!!! it was made in ireland.. hope i get an lg screen again this time... i did chat with a dell C.S.R and she told me that she could give me a discount, but couldn't specify that i want an lg screen.. is it worth phoning another C.S.R and asking lg screens or they will "promise" to give an lg screen? oh God!!! I'm terribly excited over my coming xps m1530!!!! :D

there was a topic earlier about a UK buyer getting a crap screen. can't remember specifics but i think they ended up getting it replaced..... by another crap screen....

seems like its all down to luck.

i'm waiting for the LED screens =.= taking forever to be released in the UK... they're available for the M1330, just not the 15....

personally, i don't think LED will be released on the m1530 in the uk. your best bet will be the inspiron 1535 but then you know what happens when a new model comes out...problems and problems which get resolved 5-6 months after their release..

it's been released in the u.s nearly 2 months ago..if they really would have released them in the uk for the m1530, it would have been done by now...anyways i hope the led will become available in the u.k for the m1530...wish you good luck mate!

    The same is here [Serbia].
Btw, for XPS M1330 LED display costs additional 140 EUR over CCFL and you can buy it with only GeForce 8400GS which costs additional 85 EUR. :eek2:

i'm getting the 1400*900 because i heard the text is a bit tiny over that resolution and i wear spectacles!!lol! i heard that there is a higher probability of AUO screens...if i find it suitable, then i'll stick to it..

Hiya. Please see my previous post for a summary of UK issues:

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?p=3272268

In short, if you get a crap screen you have to return. They won't do screen swaps. 1440 x 900 is the best chance of getting the favoured LG screen, but more and more are getting AU Optronics screens these days. Some like them, mine were terrible in my opinion.

You can order one if there's a great deal going, but just be ready to ship it straight back for a refund if you don't like the screen.

If you can be patient and don't mind paying extra, you could wait for the LED to arrive in the UK--all the reviews of the LED screens have been high and they apparently don't have the manufacturer gamble.

Another option (what I did in the end) was order mine off Ebay from a guy reselling Dells. He recieves them new and checks the specs prior to reselling--he pointed out if they had LG screens or not.

Other than the screen, general build quality of the 2 ireland ones I got and the poland one I got in the end was fine, no missaligned pieces, done pretty solid.
