sorry, havn't been in the dell scene in a while, so i dunno much of whats been goin on,
but i've heard some stories that xps series may be discontinued?
does that apply to the current lineup.. or the whole xps series like ever? or is that story just wrong?
and if wrong, are there any rumors/news on new xps models coming out?
dunno if i should just buy the m1530 now, or just wait alil, which i don't mind, for something newer and better.

i think that rumor surfaced few months back. that dell would rely on alienware for high end, gaming notebooks. and dell would focus on mainstream. but it turned out to be false.
-
It was only XPS Desktops and it's unlikely to happen.
-
From what I understand from my Dell rep, the XPS line is not going away, but is to be marketed more towards power/top end business users and less towards gamers. Dell will use the Alienware name as the gaming line. This of course, could be totally false, as some Dell reps really have no idea whats in the works, they just like to think they do.

Dook, that avatar is cracking me up.

Back to the future of XPS....up in the air???
Cin -
Why does every topic these days keep going off track with some random conversations???
Nice avatar though..
Anyway, as to the future of XPS, AFAIK there is no official word anywhere yet, I guess.. no?? But I did remember seeing some chart somewhere around (was it from engadget??) with some models being phased out slowly and new ones / hybrid models coming in soon... don't remember exactly if the XPS was somewhere in that picture... -
The XPS has been reduced to a sub brand and will be the Studio XPS line whenever they decide to release the new notebooks. The powerpoint slides show a November release date. We'll see.
-
does this mean that something like the xps m1330 is going to be spec downgraded and unable to play games too?
Im very close to buying one but was waiting on a new line too but if they are getting the downgrade treatment then i will just grab one this year instead.
I know they are not technically gaming machines im not looking to play the latest fps or anything but the appeal for me was the light travel machine that plays decent games too and from what ive seen on youtube they are able to handle alot. -
No, they will still be about the same in performance. It is more along the lines of they don't want high end specs like in the M1730 which competes with the Alienware notebooks. They should continue to have dedicated video and be able to play about any game on the market.

thanks for the fast response atbnet
the more i think about it the more i want one lol, its a heck of a nice laptop. -
Yes, they are very nice and will continue to be very nice. They'll just have a different name.
-
hhe very true hun, now if only i could get one in red now they only do blue / black in the uk even though the site shows a red one too but not when you go to order.
Thanks for the info though i think i will just buy one theres always going to be something better around and you can wait forever trying to decide.
This will fit also into my fendi bag

im still hoping dell will come to its senses and make a high end gaming laptop. that may not happen, the only way to find out is wait till november..

get an XPS now with the coupons offered. The new ones will mainly be new case designs and crap like that and way more expensive. I just bought a maxed out (all except for SSD) M1330 and saved $750 on it with the 30% off coupon. Hell of a deal!!
future of xps?
