The future is not 100% certain for the M1730 unfortunately. Dell is pushing Alienware as its gaming notebook and the M1730 competes with it.

Both the M1730 and Alienware M17x are outdated already with the previous Santa Rosa platform while other notebooks have gone Montevina.

... so Dell might be scrapping the M1730 for a new system.... probably the same for Alienware with their M17x.

Sager 9262 (Clevo D901C... along their other Clevo models) is using a standard MXM Type IV slot... so its upgradeability was expected since Nvidia is producing and shipping more standard cards.... while ODMs (using proprietary videocards) have to manufacture and config their system specific modules.

Sadly that is the way they are headed. I hope they will bring down the price of the main configuration while allowing for higher configurations. Otherwise people are going to turn to other brands like Sager and Asus.

My 8800M GTX SLI plays all game at their highest settings and native resolution :)
The XPS 1730 is a beast and has a lot of time left .

If you do not know much about Clevo.... I recommend to read the Clevo Guide

they [Clevo] have been around longer than Dell... and their systems have been re-branded many times by boutique brands like small companies called Alienware, VoodooPC, Falcon Northwest... etc. ;)
